Mark Gibson, pastor at Union Church, founder of The River of Life and driving force behind the Avon Otakaro Network shared with us via facebook

All invited to participate in 22nd Feb commmoration event just downstream of Owles Terrace boatramp between 12noon and 2pm this Wednesday. This River of Flowers initiative will be one of a dozen river side events happening at the same time on the Avon-Otakaro and Opawaho-Heathcote Rivers. Come and put a message on the Tree of Hope, put petals in the river, observe two minutes silence with others from our New Brighton community at 12.51pm. There will be also be a bit of singing and time to share memories and stories.
~ thanks for sharing this with us Mark.

There'll also be many other sites around the city to take part in the River of Flowers commemorations.
